Whew! It’s been a whirlwind summer full of photographing vacationers visiting Isle of Palms. I have so much to share, but although I am caught up with all of my editing, our move has been occupying a lot of my time. It has been going well, though, and now I am only 30 minutes from Isle of Palms. I made the drive last night and marveled — being able to get home early enough to say goodnight to the kids is awesome.
The session I’m about to share with you is a family visiting from Georgia, but they have been coming to Isle of Palms for so long they might as well be local! Mom approached me looking for family photos and senior photos for her eldest daughter. (Because if you’re at the beach and also can utilize a gorgeous location like Charleston, you should definitely do so.) She mentioned they’d never had professional photos before, which was almost hard to believe because seriously, they are a gorgeous family and totally natural in front of the camera. We had a great morning on the beach.
The following day, we tackled senior photos on the beach and also went downtown. Senior photos have really changed since I graduated (1998) – I did mine in studio, and also in my backyard and the beach at which I lifeguarded. However, fashion this year is eerily similar — I’m seeing peasant blouses, tiny florals, plaid, and chunky boots — all of which I was well familiar with my senior year! The big difference is teenagers are so comfortable in front of the camera that I didn’t need to give a lot of direction. You can see for yourself – this family made my job so easy.
