Goodbye, Charleston SC – Family Photography

Recently, a loyal client contacted me with news that they were leaving Charleston, SC and wanted to document their goodbye with a family photography session. I began working with them a few years ago, after photographing their oldest daughter’s school photos in Mt. Pleasant, SC. 2020 was quite a year – but in that time, they welcomed a sweet, new baby girl into their family. Growth, combined with new realizations you can maybe only learn through a pandemic, led this family to the decision that it was time to move to a new area which they loved: The land of waterfalls.

(I’m only slightly envious of the whole waterfall aspect and the cooler summer temps.)

When we discussed the session, I decided the best approach would be somewhat lifestyle and somewhat documentary. This particular family is easy-going and the documentary approach is nice for Littles, who sometimes do their own things. We recreated some old photo-moments in favorite spaces of the house, took front porch photos, and played in the front and back yards. The bright colors and beautiful weather makes the photos so cheerful and pretty. This may be one of my favorite sessions I’ve done, and not only because it didn’t feel like work at all.

So, here they are, saying goodbye to their home here – to the windows smudged by little hands, the play spots, the eat spots, the places scrapes were made and mopped. They are off to a new home and new adventure. The waterfalls sound amazing.
