Family Portraits coast to coast
If you have followed me for a while, you may know I’m a mom of two boys, but did you know that I am one of three sisters? (I am the oldest.) We are spread across the country – South Carolina, Michigan, and California. As each of us married and began families, it’s been hard to see each other often. I feel very fortunate if I get to see them more than once a year. I’m not sure how we’d get on without Facebook and Facetime. Now that I’ve got a niece and nephew (and one more on the way due very soon!), I’ve really been struck by how quickly kiddos grow and develop, especially when months pass by in-between visits.
I started using Google Flights to track flights to the airports closest to my sisters. Recently I happened to catch a price to CA that I couldn’t miss; not only that, it lined up well with my schedule. I booked it within 24 hours and told her to get ready because I was going to take photos of her family while I was there. Her husband is a photographer – you can check out his stunning work here: David Zentz. You know photographer syndrome – when you document a lot, you’re not in the frame as much.
Although my knowledge of LA locations was practically zilch, they knew exactly where they wanted to go, and it really paid off. These are some of my favorite urban photos to date!
