Family Documentary Special

If you follow me on social media outlets at all, you may know that I’ve just returned from a three day photography conference that was held in Amelia Island, Florida.  It’s called Click Away, and it was absolutely terrific.  I am so inspired, you guys!  I love photography, but after a season of real growth, I’ve had this tug on my heart, an urge to do something a little different.  While I love photographing families in the Lifestyle genre — that is, lightly directed so that you get “real” moments (much like what you see here, in my portfolio) — I really wanted to document other people’s families how I often document my own.  You know, my favorite moments:

What does that mean?  Well, I want to tell our story without curating it.   A lot of times, I don’t give directions, don’t place them in beautiful light,  and with a husband and two boys, I can’t even dream about dressing them to Pinterest standards, daily.   As you can see.

I want to document clients in their homes, or at a bbq, or fishing at a pond, or getting ice cream – but I am not going to tell you to look at the camera, ever.  I want to see how you interact with each other.  I want to capture images of you, the pack mule, dragging bags, beach chairs, a dozen buckets, shovels, and sand toys, and the kids (hopefully) all the way from your parking spot to the beach.  And then I want to capture the chaos of you setting up, of the kids going wild for the ocean, and finally, you maybe-kind of-sort of enjoying the sun for seven minutes.  You know, until one of the kids runs up and asks for a sandwich.  And when they come back a minute later because they’ve dropped it in the sand.

There is such beauty and humor in family life, friends.  My philosophy has been “Be a witness” for a while now, and I truly want you to be able to see your life – your routine – your mess – with new eyes, in hopes that you will appreciate it more.

And right now, I am trying to build up my portfolio.  With that in mind, I am offering my documentary photography packages at HALF PRICE, provided you sign a social media release!  If you’re interested in learning more, please fill out the form below, and I’ll send you all the details.  Because, trust me, the reality of your life is worth capturing!
