Engagement session at the lake

Here in Moncks Corner we may not have ocean views, but we do have something that can be just as beautiful: the lake. I tell families and couples looking for photography locations that it is a really great alternative to the beach, particularly with all the new parking regulations on local beaches at South Carolina.

What do I love about the lake? The wide, open sky, for one. It has beach areas and also waves, though they are a lot subtler than the ocean. It has greenery – trees, including beautiful cypress trees growing out of the water that add interest. You can get a lot of different looks in one session.

Anyway, if you are in my area, this is a location I often suggest. It really is beautiful. Also, you can wade/splash in the water if you’re comfortable with that, too.

I met this couple through a neighbor of mine,  who gifted them with an engagement session. They are so sweet; I liked them immediately. We are all Midwestern transplants, too, which may have something to do with it. (And in an effort to keep things light, I didn’t ask if they were Packers fans. 😉 ) The afternoon was full of storms which were supposed to go away by the evening — but they didn’t! Moncks corner had steady rain, and I was so worried as I was driving out to the location. Miraculously, there was a hole in the clouds there, and although we didn’t get tons of golden light like I’d hoped for, we were not rained on! And I really like clouds in the sky when I photograph, anyway.

See what you think about this location! Is it somewhere you’d like to have photographs done?
