If you have looked through my site a bit, you may recognize the couple here. I have photographed them at Christmas time for a couple years now, with their sweet & energetic dog, Folly. (Perfect name for a local dog, don’t you think?) When Sydnee messaged me to photograph them this spring – something different than the usual Christmas tree farm photos, I was excited to hear from her. They are SO nice and easygoing in front of the camera – I knew it would be fun.
After some back and forth about location ideas, I suggested Charles Towne Landing. If you’ve read my blog post about visiting Charleston, SC, you’ll know I’ve recommended this state park as a place to visit if you have to satisfy a group with a lot of different interests. It also happens to be a beautiful place to take photos, particularly in the spring. The grounds have huge live oaks, azaleas, camellias, freshwater lagoons, and old iron gates. It’s the Charleston feel without paying extra (and I’m talking hundreds) for professional photography at one of the other private homes & gardens.
Sydnee requested a fun couples session — relaxed, easy prompts, with nothing too awkward or serious. We spent the last part of an afternoon laughing and exploring a small part of the park. With no dog wrangling, they were able to do some prompts that we hadn’t done during Christmas mini sessions, and I didn’t have to photoshop out any leashes. It’s the small things, folks!
I feel confident in saying they will have plenty of new photos for their walls full of beautiful, fun moments.
