Hey! Here we are, juuust rolling out of the first month of 2021, and I’m writing my first blog post of the year. I have had a couple of sessions already and have also been amping up my personal work. It’s felt really good – a month break after the whirlwind of holiday photos is always a breath of fresh air, creatively speaking. As I’ve recharged, I begain reframing my business goals. I want to really connect with my clients and potential clients – and also other moms and photographers.

This year is a year of teaching. Not only am I leading a breakout workshop for Bloom Conference 2021, where I will be giving advice on how to take better photos of your kids. The content is geared towards anyone, with any kind of camera – phone, dslr, mirrorless – it doesn’t matter. I have so much information I’m excited to share with you all and hopefully it will make a difference in the way you capture photos of your family.

And as I’m speaking about capturing your family, I’m writing this blog post to give you a clear example of the variety of images you will receive when you book a session with me. I’m using my latest session, located in Charles Towne Landing. This is a family of three – soon to be four – and we utilized the last open hour of the park to take some great photos.

Now, these aren’t often MY personal favorites, but I always make sure to capture everyone looking at the camera a few times throughout the session. Friends and relatives LOVE to see your faces, so we just can’t skip it! It’s a non-negotiable, right? And I do my very best to make sure I get the attention of your Littles, even if I sound and look like a lunatic doing so.

I also really try to get some “guided” posing, where I help you with how to stand, activities to do, then instruct you to talk/interact with each other. I often will move around quite a bit during this time to get different angles/light/perspectives, which adds to the variety of photos to choose from.

And finally, I try to capture some candid moments between.

And always, always several black and whites for good measure.

I hope you found this helpful! As you can see, I provide a large variety of photos which allows you to create beautiful albums or wall art!
